Professional land clearing, property opening, and site preparation across Mattawa and surrounding communities.
If you own property in Mattawa, Papineau-Cameron, or Mattawan, you already know—this isn’t easy ground to work with. Between bedrock sitting just inches below the surface, thick bush, and unpredictable terrain, clearing land in this area takes the right equipment and real experience.
At Canada Brush Control, this is the type of work we do every day. Based right here in Papineau-Cameron, we help property owners across Mattawa and the surrounding communities turn overgrown, unusable land into clean, functional, build-ready space.
Whether you're preparing for a new home build, opening up a property, or reclaiming land that’s been left untouched for years, we bring the equipment, knowledge, and work ethic to get it done right.
One of the biggest challenges with land clearing in Mattawa and the surrounding areas is the terrain. In many spots, especially around Mattawa and Papineau-Cameron, you’re dealing with solid bedrock just below a thin layer of topsoil. What looks like an easy clearing job on the surface can quickly turn into a technical project once you start breaking ground.
In areas like Mattawan, you can run into a mix of conditions—sand, clay, rock, and everything in between—sometimes within just a few feet. We’ve worked on properties where test holes filled with water almost immediately, and others where every pass of the machine meant working around exposed rock.
On top of that, a lot of properties in this region haven’t been touched in years. Thick bush, deadfall, and storm debris can make access difficult and increase the risk when clearing.
This is where experience matters. Knowing how to approach each property, how to work with the terrain, and how to avoid costly mistakes is what separates a clean, efficient job from a frustrating one.
We provide a full range of land clearing and property improvement services across Mattawa, Papineau-Cameron, and Mattawan, including:
We’ve worked on a wide range of properties throughout Mattawa and the surrounding communities, from tight-access rural lots to large, heavily wooded parcels.
Some projects involve opening up completely overgrown land for new builds, while others are focused on improving access, reclaiming fields, or cleaning up after storm damage.
Working in this area has taught us how to adapt quickly—whether it’s dealing with steep driveways, navigating around large rock formations, or safely clearing brittle, dead-standing trees left behind from disease or storms.
No two properties are the same, and that’s exactly why experience in this region matters.
After a major storm moved through Papineau-Cameron, this property was left in rough shape. Fallen trees, scattered debris, and blocked access made the property difficult—and in some areas unsafe—to navigate.
What made this situation more urgent was timing. The homeowner had a wedding scheduled on the property that same weekend, with guests arriving in campers and vehicles. The driveway needed to be cleared, opened up, and made fully accessible in a short window.
We were brought in to handle the emergency cleanup, removing storm debris, clearing fallen trees, and reopening the driveway. Once access was restored, we completed grading work to ensure vehicles could safely get in and out of the property.
By the time we finished, the property was cleaned up, accessible, and ready for the event to move forward without issue.
This project brought us to a property on Chenier Road in Mattawa where we were called in to clear and prepare the land for a new home build. The ground conditions on this one were actually pretty good overall, and as we worked through clearing the trees, we dealt with boulders along the way as they came up.
We cleared approximately an acre of land, opening up the property and working through the bush while handling the rock as part of the clearing process. All material was chipped on-site, leaving the property clean and manageable for the next phase.
By the time we wrapped up, the lot was fully opened up, accessible, and ready for the build to move forward.
This project in Mattawan was a bit different from the usual job. We were brought in by a customer who wanted to help an older gentleman who had fallen on hard times, with the goal of cleaning up the property and making the space usable again.
The property had a number of challenges, including a collapsed shed, a condemned camper trailer, and additional worn-down structures that needed to be removed. We started with the initial cleanup and demolition of the shed, clearing out debris and opening up the space.
From there, we moved on to removing the condemned camper and carefully sorting and handling the materials for proper disposal. Once everything was cleared, we completed the final grading to level out the area and create a clean, functional space.
By the end of the project, the property was fully cleaned up, opened up, and ready for a fresh start with a new setup.
This project in Papineau-Cameron was completed in multiple stages and involved opening up the property for a future home build, along with cleaning up a secondary area that had been partially cleared by the owner.
We started by roughing in the driveway to establish proper access into the main site. From there, we moved into clearing and opening up the primary section of the property where the home will be built—removing heavy brush, trees, and preparing the area for grading.
In addition to the main build site, there was a second section on the property where previous clearing had been started but left unfinished. The brush had been cut, but stumps remained throughout the area. We went in, removed the remaining stumps, and completed the rough grading to properly finish the space.
By the end of the project, both sections of the property were fully cleared, opened up, and accessible. The site is now clean, properly laid out, and ready for the next phase of construction.
This project in Mattawan involved clearing and preparing a property for a future home build, with some challenging ground conditions from the start. The site was sitting on solid bedrock with only a few inches of topsoil, combined with a steep uphill driveway that needed to be opened up to properly access the property.
We began by roughing in the driveway to establish access and safely work our way into the main section of the property. Working on bedrock with limited soil and a steep grade requires the right approach to ensure everything is opened up properly and remains functional long-term.
From there, we continued opening up the driveway and moved into clearing the majority of the property, transforming it from a wooded area into a clean, usable space ready for the next phase.
To complete the project, we finished the final cleanup and placed pit run on the driveway, creating solid, reliable access into the property.
By the end of the job, the property was fully opened up, accessible, and properly prepared for future construction.

We cannot recommend them too strongly. From the moment we reached out, everything exceeded our expectations. Not only did they offer the best price, but they were able to do the job the very next day! They were extremely professional, conscientious, and went above and beyond from start to finish. The work was done with such care, and they left our cottage property cleaner than we ever imagined possible after so much damage from the storm. The father-and-daughter team is absolutely wonderful—it was such a pleasure to work with them. Their friendliness, hard work, and attention to detail really set them apart. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for tree removal services after a storm. The storm that blew through Mattawa on June 30th left my mother's property unrecognizable. Once the fallen trees were removed from the house, vehicle, and propane tank, we still needed a hydro pole restored which required brushing a path through the bush for the new wire and clearing space for the pole. There were also several more fallen trees, debris, and two stumps to be removed around the property. Grant and his team did excellent work, and were easy to reach and quick to respond despite being in high demand from others dealing with the same storm damage. They got the work done quickly and left the property looking great with branches and debris raked and blown clear, and the driveway graded smoother than before the storm even hit. A shout-out to Makayla — a hard worker with a friendly spirit that helped make a stressful situation feel a whole lot lighter. Can't recommend Canada Brush Control enough - they have our full recommendation.Posted on Dave S.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Grant for all your hard work! Highly recommended for anyone needing what I did! Here is a list of services I had done at my home. * Removed dead and dangerous trees from around the house and property. * Created proper drainage to manage the natural springs that were overrunning the area. [This will help my property dry out faster in the spring.] * Expanded and improved the parking area front of house. * Regraded much of the property for both better drainage and overall functionality.Posted on Matthew ChapmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had Grant from Canada Brush Control clear our property in preparation for our future house build, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Grant was very approachable and made the entire process easy from start to finish. He kept us updated as the project moved along and even helped with the driveway installation. His pricing was very fair, and he took the time to explain each step of the process so we always knew what to expect. Grant left our building site neat and tidy, made sure everything was piled exactly where we wanted, and completed all the leveling work we requested. We’ll definitely be using Grant and Canada Brush Control again for our future projects — highly recommended!Posted on Kevin AirgidTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
